These are some of the materials I created in Substance Designer for my in progress Lighthouse environment in UE5. I think these are turning out really cool and I am excited to share them with everyone. The goal of the Lighthouse project is to design something is the visual language established in Dishonored 2 which is one of my favorite games and one I have a lot of respect for when it comes to both visual and gameplay design.
This is covering the Sand materials, and I wanted to showcase the variation of rock density combined with the sand material. I also wanted the rocks to interact with the sand and incorporate the idea of water washing over the terrain since this is on an island. So the rocks are sunk into the sand with a directional erosion of the sand where the waves would pull the sand around the rocks.
My goal was also to translate that visual language into Substance Designer and level up my own skills through that process of interpretation. So all the materials shown where created in Substance Designer and rendered in Marmoset. All materials are 2k textures and the same ones I am using in texturing, or in UE5 shaders.
Thanks for taking a look at my work!
